Timber Truss has been known as a Green Construction pioneer for many years. We were among the first to design and market a Passive solar home to be built in our region thirty years ago. We market many products that are energy conserving such as the latest glass technologies employed by Zoe-E-Shield glazing in Weather Shield window products supplied in our homes. We were the first supplier to use Tyvek air infiltration and moisture barrier sheathing covering which enhances the performance of insulation in the wall system as well as protects from moisture penetration. We supply highly insulated and sealed Therma-Tru door systems. Our framing details include energy conserving corners construction, raised heel trusses, two-piece "T"'s for wall intersection framing, optional insulated headers, high density wall and ceiling insulations specified in our homes as well as waste saving techniques by using wall panels. Our plant is constantly looking at ways to cut energy usage, re-use of waste materials such as grinding wood wastes and turning it into animal bedding. Being a Green company means saving energy in our factory as well as designing energy savings into our home designs. When properly designed with water protection, proper structural considerations for local conditions, vapor barriers, proper overhangs, quality construction and materials, there is no reason that wood homes will not last hundreds of years. Many famous landmarks in the USA are over 200 years old and they are built of wood. Those structures are using old building techniques and old technologies. New technologies, advances in building science, and new water intrusion prevention methods make wood housing a very efficient and affordable option. Construction of wood structures is located in tropical areas as well as very cold areas in the Rocky Mountains and other cold climate areas around the world. Wood homes are very flexible to local design conditions wherever they are built. These same issues are the ones that have to be addressed with masonry homes that are typical in many countries around the word. We use quality methods and materials to do the job right the first time. This requires no repetitive fixes and wasteful material disposals. It is a low carbon footprint building material, it is a renewable resource, natural insulator and it has become very politically correct for use in the new "Green Construction" movement. More trees are planted every year in the USA and Canada than are harvested. Wood has a wonderful reputation as a low cost, energy efficient and structurally sound building solution with outstanding seismic performance. Wood can be treated for fire protection, insect and mildew protection, and termite protection. Wood framing is a very fast framing solution and can be designed to meet cultural and architectural demands of any country. Our Houses are built very quickly with a minimum of trained labor, by using large pre-manufactured wood structural components. The components are easily transported to any local port in shipping containers. We also furnish other materials to include a package of building materials delivered straight to the building site.
